Cold Springs
Montecito
The Cold Springs Trail in Montecito begins by a small shady creek and ascends to a turnoff to Montecito Peak, a steep but short climb, offering beautiful ocean panoramas and views. At the top of the trail, hikers have the option to continue hiking down the other side of the mountain and into the backcountry.
Seven Falls
Santa Barbara
Beginning in the same location as the Inspiration Point Trail, Seven Falls branches off to bring hikers to three layered pools, where one has the opportunity to take a dip and cool off on a hot day. This is one of Santa Barbara’s most well-known hiking destinations.
Inspiration Point
Santa Barbara
Inspiration Point provides breathtaking views of Santa Barbara and the Channel Islands. Most of the hike is in the mountains, making the 3.5 mile round trip trail perfect for the average hiker. Inspiration Point is popular for sunset hikes, and some locals enjoy gentle yoga at the top.
Gaviota Peak
Gaviota
This 2,458 foot peak offers views of the Pacific Coast looking south toward Santa Barbara, as well as Hollister Ranch and Jalama, located just north of Gaviota. This steep incline is great for both experts or for novice hikers looking for a challenge.
Hot Springs
Montecito
The Hot Springs are an easy detour off the Gaviota Peak Trail when hikers are looking to rest their legs. Sulfur bubbles warm the water and the top pool is deep enough to bathe in. This is a short one mile hike with a 400 foot elevation gain.
Lizard's Mouth
Santa Barbara
Located on the ridge of the Santa Ynez Mountains, Lizard’s Mouth is an array of boulders overlooking the city of Goleta. It is perfect for rock climbing, picnicking, or simply enjoying the sunset. It is a simple 1/4 mile walk to the start of the boulders.
